Reverend Don Meyer - Pastor

Reverend Donald J Meyer was born November 5, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan.  He grew up in the nearby suburb of Roseville, along with his 4 brothers and 2 sisters.  He was received into God's family through Holy Baptism on November 23rd of that year at St Mark's Lutheran Church of St Clair Shores, MI where he attended parochial school for 3 years.  His family transferred to Bethlehem Lutheran in Roseville where he also attended school for the next 6 years, and was confirmed there in 1972.  He graduated from Roseville High School in 1976 and enlisted in the US Army as a Military Policeman.  He was honorably discharged after serving 3 years in West Germany.

He was united in marriage to Gayleen Neuhaus on August 2, 1980 at Zion Lutheran of Omaha, Nebraska, which was Gayleen's home church.  Pastor and Gayleen lived on the family farm and Pastor farmed along with her brother and Dad for 5 years.

Pastor and Gayleen were blessed with 3 children:  Elizabeth, Andrew, and Rebekah, and through them, God has given the blessing of 10 grandchildren.

In 1985 he was hired by the Omaha Police Department and served there until he retired in 1992 due to an on-duty injury.  Pastor felt called by God to enter the holy ministry so they moved to Ft Wayne, Indiana in 1993 where he began his Seminary training.  His Vicarage year was spent in Elma, Iowa.  Upon graduation in 1997, he received his first Divine Call to Bethlehem Lutheran of Ft Wayne.  In 1998, Pastor accepted a Call to the dual parish of Pilgrim, Quimby and Trinity, Marcus where he served for 19 years.  In 2017 he retired from the full-time ministry and began guest preaching in the area.  In June of 2019 he was asked to serve as the vacancy Pastor for Zion, and in February 2020, he was extended the Divine Call to be the full time Pastor.  In March, Pastor accepted the call, but due to the Coronavirus his official installation was done privately.  That event was recognized and celebrated with the congregation on September 13, 2020, giving glory to God for His grace and mercy.
